Our Journey

From Humble Beginnings to a Centre of Excellence

Educational institutions play a pivotal role in the moral development and cultural promotion of any region. The people of Jahanian felt a pressing need for a quality higher education institution for women — because after school, girls had to travel to Khanewal or Multan to continue their studies, leaving many without access to further education.

The perseverance and aspirations of the community bore fruit in November 1989, when Government Girls College Jahanian was formally established. Classes initially began in Primary School No. 2, which was vacated for this purpose, with the promise that a permanent building would be ready within a couple of years.

However, the stay in the temporary building extended longer than expected. In September 1999, Degree College classes were launched from the same premises, making the building insufficient for the college's growing needs.

In September 2001, thanks to the efforts of Tahseel Nazim Chaudhry Karam Dad Wahla, education department officers, and the college principal, the college finally shifted to its new purpose-built building. The building was formally inaugurated on 6th November 2001 by District Nazim Sardar Ahmad Yar Hiraj.

The Computer Department started in November 2001, providing students access to modern technology. Today, the college boasts a state-of-the-art computer lab.

The college currently offers double-storey classrooms, a multipurpose hall, a modern computer lab, a girls' hostel, and a college bus service. Students walk through paved paths, lush green gardens, and well-ventilated air-conditioned classrooms — an environment that instills pride and inspires learning.

In 2020, the college was renamed from "Government Degree College for Women Jahanian" to "Government Graduate College for Women Jahanian." Under the leadership of Director Colleges Prof. Farid Sharif, Deputy Director Prof. Ahmar Rauf, and Principal Nasim Akhtar, BS (4-year) programs were launched in 2023 — a milestone in the college's history.
