Government Graduate College for Women Jahanian was established in November 1989 to provide quality higher education to women in Jahanian and surrounding areas. Before its establishment, girls had to travel to Khanewal or Multan for higher education, leaving many without access to college.
From temporary premises in a primary school building, the college moved to its permanent purpose-built campus on September 2001 — inaugurated by District Nazim Sardar Ahmad Yar Hiraj on 6th November 2001.
In 2020, the college was renamed from "Government Degree College for Women Jahanian" to "Government Graduate College for Women Jahanian," and in 2023, a 4-year BS program was launched.
